Senior Data Engineer

The Investment Management team is responsible for driving and coordinating strategy development, investment and financial planning, as well as governance and reporting for the Patent Portfolio organization. The Patent Portfolio organization itself manages Nokia's industry-leading patent portfolio and is dedicated to enhancing the value derived from Nokia's patents and R&D efforts. We are seeking a business-savvy, full-stack Senior Data Engineer to join our Investment Management team at Nokia Technologies. In this role, you will play a critical part in enabling the team to efficiently manage data and drive initiatives in investment, cost efficiency, and portfolio analysis. This is a unique opportunity for someone eager to dynamically create new data solutions. As the position is entirely new, you will have the freedom to shape the role and define what success looks like.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Design and implement robust data storage solutions that meet our needs for scalability and efficiency, ensuring that data is easily accessible and reliable 
  • Develop and maintain seamless data pipelines that facilitate the flow of information across various systems, empowering your teammates with timely and accurate data 
  • Collaborate to create innovative data solutions that integrate and join diverse data sources, supporting informed decision-making throughout the organization 
  • Draw data insights to drive strategic decision-making in collaboration with the wider team  

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 You have:

  • 5+ years of professional hands-on experience from end-to-end data engineering 
  • Strong command of SQL and Python 
  • Business acumen: ability to apply data insights to drive strategic decisions and improve business outcomes 
  • Self-guided approach, eagerness to take ownership, and enough seniority to navigate and organize work across different cross-functional stakeholders 
  • Excellent communication skills in English: ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear explanations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field 

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Previous experience from working with and understanding financial data 
  • Certifications: Azure Data Engineer, Fabric Analytics Engineer, or Databricks 
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Data Lake, Data vault, Stream Analytics, and other big data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark) 
  • Previous experience with data visualization tools, for example Tableau or PowerBI 
  • Previous experience from developing simple UI interfaces to interact with data models 
  • Previous experience from working with patent and/or patenting related data
