The Mobile Networks (MN) Industrial Design team is part of Mobile Networks RAN (Radio Access Networks) R&D. Our focus is on development of the cellular base station radio products https://www.nokia.com/networks/mobile-networks/#radio-access
Your field of activity includes diverse range of projects, from conceptualizing user-friendly interfaces for radio products from Nokia AirScale Massive MIMO and Remote radio heads to Small Cells and Site solutions. As a team, we are expected to distill complex technical challenges into streamlined, user-friendly solutions while crafting emotional connections to brand identities.
Your role demands a commitment to developing functional, efficient, and engaging human-centric products that address the dual objectives of user satisfaction and business goals.
Team is working and the open position is located at Oulu, Finland - currently on Rusko site but moving during year 2025 to Nokia New Campus at Linnanmaa - next to University of Oulu and Technology Village.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Are responsible for concepts creation and design briefs. This work will be carried out in a close co-operation with cross functional team.
- You define and document requirements for design with different stakeholders.
- You develop and iterate product concepts through sketches, 3D models, prototypes and renderings.
- You are curious to learn new from current and emerging technologies.
- You evaluate product design from safety, aesthetics, and function.
- You participate to implementing design deliverables as part of product and technology development programs.
- Create documentation necessary to convey design strategies and solutions through image / trend boards, sketches, renderings, 3-D models, CAD surface data and written reports.
- You participate to user studies and usability testing as well as to analyses of new product use cases and user environments as well as customer needs and take these finding into the practical design.
- Stay abreast of trends in industrial design aspects relevant on your work area including materials, style, and new methods
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Creativity and passion for design
- Hands-on mind-set and problem-solving skills to work on highly technical engineering constraints with cross functional global teams.
- Ability to present the ideas in different visualization methods.
- Understanding of user experience and how to analyze it.
- Interest in telecommunication systems
- Basic understanding of manufacturing technologies
- A degree in a relevant product/industrial design discipline or equivalent
- 10 years of work experience in an industrial design or product design role preferably on technology oriented B2B field
- Tools: 3D CAD (Creo, Rhino), Adobe Creative Cloud, KeyShot, MS office
- Ability to collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative feedback
- Excellent team working skills
- Good written and spoken English
- Good communication skills
