We are looking for a Project Manager for our Recovery Group in the Project Excellence organization. In the Recovery Group, you will manage capital and major rebuild projects for our customers in the pulp industry, with projects around the world ranging from equipment deliveries and rebuilds to complete process islands.
As the Project Manager, you will manage our projects from the sales phase to project completion. Your main responsibility is to lead the project as agreed in the contract and ensure a good and predictable financial result. Your tasks include project plan preparation, contract management, budget follow-up and estimation, schedule management, internal and external reporting, risk management, and handling possible contractual disputes with customers and subcontractors. You will work naturally with a diverse group of people and drive the best performance from your project organization.
An important part of the Project Manager's job is to be Valmet's representative in the project towards the customer and to assure customer satisfaction and long-lasting relationships.
The Project Manager will also offer support during the sales phase, ensuring that the contractual obligations are realistic from a project execution perspective and securing a smooth transfer from Sales to Project while maintaining sales integrity.
Expectations
To be successful in this position, you should have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field and strong experience in international project execution. Familiarity with products on the recovery line is essential. Experience in the pulp and energy industry is highly appreciated. You must be fluent in English, both written and verbal. This position includes regular travel and customer visits.
A proactive attitude, cooperation and negotiation skills, and an active communication style are essential for this position, as you will lead and coordinate several stakeholder groups. Moving the project forward in both good and challenging situations is what keeps you motivated. You can stay calm in demanding situations, are prepared to justify your views, and even enjoy the occasional debate. Most importantly, you listen to the customer and know how to read between the lines.
You have a natural understanding of financial matters and the indirect cost implications of your decisions. You work independently and can make informed decisions in changing and sometimes uncertain situations. You easily understand the technical aspects of problems and can drive multiple solutions simultaneously.
