What will you be doing?
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be joining Collo's R&D team to develop both the current sensor version and a completely new version of their measurement device. Your role includes mechanical design, material and supplier selection, manufacturing process optimization, and device / system automation integration, while also managing an external partner for electronic development.
Your key responsibilities include for example:
- Developing the current sensor version, including material updates, mechanical design, and factory calibration improvement
- Designing and developing a new measurement device, focusing on mechanical and antenna design
- Identifying and collaborating with manufacturers to prototype and test the measurement device
- Improving calibration methods for Collo's measurement devices to ensure precise and repeatable measurements
- Managing an external electronic design partner to ensure smooth integration of electronic components
- Integrating devices into a functional system and ensuring seamless communication, including working with 4-20 mA signals, and configuring protocols such as OPC UA and Modbus TCP
We require you to have:
- A relevant educational background, such as a degree in production engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Previous experience in hardware development, preferably from several years and in measurement devices or similar
- Previous experience in mechanical design, with basic proficiency in CAD tools
- Hands-on experience with supplier/vendor management and prototyping
- A full working proficiency in English
We consider as an asset:
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus TCP, IO-Link, Anybus)
- Expertise in analog and digital I/O devices, including their installation and configuration
- Familiarity of antenna design (RF design, testing, and optimization)
- Knowledge of metrology and calibration techniques
- Background in automation and / or electronics
- Experience in startup environments

Practicalities:
This is a full-time and permanent position, in which you will be employed directly to Collo. The ideal starting date for the position is as soon as possible. The role will be located in Tampere, and we hope you are able to work mainly at the office (at least three days a week). Salary in this position is approximately 4000-5000€/month (gross) depending on the level of your experience.
